The existing network infrastructure was designed to serve web-based applications to various points of sales using broadband and dialup network connections. The type of information transferred required encryption, which was performed by the web servers. When web servers perform encryption, the entire output of that server degrades dramatically. This makes non-ssl based transactions performed on the same server slower as well.
As a result points of sales reported very slow response time, which resulted in customer having to wait for a long period of time to finalize their transactions. The point of sales utilizing dialup connections reported even longer delays.
These delays are very costly for both customer satisfaction and retention.

A pair of Array TMs was deployed in a cluster for high availability. Utilizing SSL acceleration off loaded the servers and freed resources for improved performances. No longer were the web-servers burdened by the CPU extensive SSL encryption and decryption; they were now free to do what they were designed to do: deliver web content!
Enabling compression for text-based messages were also deployed. Using the G-Zip functionality within a browser enables dial-up users a significant decrease in download time.
These featured offered by the Array TM reduced download times by at least 40% as observed by customers!
